My mom once gave my Great-Grandmother a journal and asked her to fill it with advice, guidance, prayers, scripture, and memories. She wanted it to be personalized, something she could share with my sister and I and treasure for years to come. My Great-Grandmother was an inspirational woman. She lived a hard life, but she never ceased to give God praise. Her wisdom deserves to be shared, not just within our family, but with anyone who will listen.

How it Began

July 30th 2005
Dear Grandma,
I want to make the first entry in your journal. You may not feel like writing in it every day, but I hope you do. I would love for you to fill this journal up with thoughts you have and personalize it for me and my daughters. It will be something that me, Karis and Haylee can treasure forever. Fill it up with advice, guidance, prayers, scripture, memories... just anything that comes to mind. It can be just one sentence or a whole page - just try to put the date on each entry if you can.
I want you you to know how much of a blessing you have always been to me. You are so sweet and loving. We are alike in so many ways! :) You are a happy person and a spiritual person who truly loves the Lord. I admire that about you so very much. God has been so good to our family. Even though we don't have money or riches, we are definitely Richly Blessed. We have more love and compassion for one another than any family I know.
I thank God for keeping you and Aunt Myrl safe, and I pray for your health daily. The world is a better place because you and Myrl are in it. God has big plans for you - He has helped you to become an awesome prayer warrior, so please continue to use this gift He has given you and lift us all up in prayer day and night. I know that prayer works because He has answered so many of mine. I know that you have always prayed for me, because I can feel it. I just want to thank you for that.
I also want to thank God for sending Lewis and Rosa to you - to all of us. Lewis taught me more than he will ever know. I am a stronger Christian today because of things he has said. He opened my eyes to so many things. He made me realize that it was time to stop "playing  church" and it's time to "become the church." The problems in the church and the problems in our own daily walk with the Lord start with us. We all need to look within ourselves and fix the problem there - spiritually and emotionally - so that we can do the work Christ wants us to do. We go to church to worship God, we don't go for any of the other things people complain about.
Thank you for the time you came to worship with us at Covenant. I was blessed by your presence there and by the things you had to say. I could feel the spirit moving when you would speak. Please carry that with you and bless the ones you worship with now at West Monroe.
I will close now, but I just want to say again that you mean the world to me. I miss Granddaddy and Aunt Pauline terribly, but I am just so grateful for the time we all had together. He did a fantastic job raising his family, and I want to carry that on in my girls. I want people to see Jesus in us like they do in you and Myrl, and like we did in Granddaddy and Pauline.
Please use the journal however you want to, but just fill it with love for me and the girls. I wish you Health, Happiness, and Hope always.

                                                  Love Always & Forever,

                                                                              Amy
